1930's SHIRLEY TEMPLE 16 COMPOSITION DOLL IN RARE ORIG BLUE CHECK CHERRY DRESS

  

Vintage 1930's SHIRLEY TEMPLE 16" Composition Doll wearing RARE Original Authentic "Cherry Dress in extremely hard-to-find BLUE CHECK Fabric. Doll comes in original Shirley Temple box with original fragile tissue paper. Box is marked on the end "BLUE".

Doll condition is as follows. Early Shirley Temple doll is not marked on back, but stamped on back of neck with COP IDEAL N&T CO.

She has the majority of her original painted features with nice complete red nostrils and lips. The painted eyelashes are there but small and light. Her hair eyelashes have some shorter ones, mostly in the middle. Her original eyes are clear and open and close smoothly. She has a light craze line under her bottom lip across her chin.

This is shown in 7th photo, but is not glaringly obvious. A faint light craze line is is by her left eye side, mostly hidden by her hair. She wears her original mohair wig with the bias tape across the back. Wig is a little thin in back.

Doll torso has no major crazing, just some rubbing here and there. Her legs have a few minor craze lines, but no lifting or compo loss.

The right arm has a few more noticeable craze lines, which can probably be seen in 3rd photo. I didn't want to remove her shoes for fear of damage, but her feet feel solid and complete. She is still strung well and can hold a pose. The RARE "Cherry" Dress is in Very Excellent clean bright condition with NO rips, tears or stains.

The elastic in the arms is not all stretched out, as many this age are. The embroidered cherries are in wonderful complete condition with bright colors. There is a very small remnant of the original size tag, as shown in the 5th photo. This dress is pictured in "Shirley Temple Dolls and Collectibles" book by Tonya Bervaldi-Camaratta. The original SHIRLEY TEMPLE Pinback Button is shown in the 6th photo, appropriately marked around the rim.

Her shoes and socks are in excellent condition. The original onesie has some stains on back as shown in the last photo. The original box is in fragile condition.

The end is detached and some sides of the lid are detached but present. Most pieces are there, but not all. Box could be repaired somewhat, if desired.

Shirley would be a wonderful RARE addition to any doll collection! Comes from a smoke-free home.
