16 c 1935 Ideal Shirley Temple Composition / Cloth Body Baby Doll Original

  
16 Ideal Shirley Temple baby doll. Doll has flirty sleep-eyes that move from side to side, a little sluggish from lack of use, open mouth with teeth and a mohair wig. Composition head on composition shoulder-plate, with swivel joint top of neck. Compo arms and lower legs on cloth body. Original crier doesn't work. Composition on head and arms in excellent condition, while the legs show paint wear on the bottoms of the feet, and a few scuffs. Also a small color chip on lash edge of eyelid.

Shows in pic with eyes closed. Slight difference in color between legs and arms, although the worn area at the top of the neck where the head swivels is similar in color. Perhaps the arms and head have been touched up, but brows and lashes definitely original. Legs might be switched left to right, but little difference in foot profile. Mohair wig in good shape, though needs a little twirling around the edges.

Hair under bonnet is not styled in curls, but doesn't look like it ever was. Crier in back does not work.

Assume button is a reproduction. Black letters marking on one leg of one-piece under-garment.

Dressed in unmarked night gown, one-piece undergarment, bonnet, shoes and stockings. Looks original, color faded, and satin ribbon ties on bonnet and flower on gown have rotted. Marked Shirley Temple on back of neck. From the estate and personal collection of Dian Zillner, author of numerous books on Dolls, Doll accessories, and Doll Houses.
