Original Shirley Temple Doll from the 1930's. 13 tall, Original Costume including her undergarments, her red polka dot dress with it's original tag still on it. She also has a striped red, white and black coat and her shoes and socks, all in great condition.
This was my Mother's doll, who was born in 1926. I know the dress and undergarments are original. Mom said she did play with Shirley, Mom loved Shirley Temple! SHe was the biggest movie star of her era, highest paid for a long time. Mom always kept her stored her away very carefully and the doll is in great shape!
No, I was not allowed to play with her. I could only get a peek at her once in a while if Mom was futzing about in that closet and she would show her to me, and she was really fascinating to me as a child.
For a piece of this age, she is in remarkable condition! No cracks or breakage on her body. Some of the undergarments are ripping but that is due to the fabric simply being old.
They have cute little fasteners. But, they are there with signs of wear and tear.
THe fabric was thinner and just ripped here and there. This doll really has a sweet face! She has great skin tone and rosy cheeks with her dimples and a nice smile showing her upper teeth. Her eyes seem to me to be brown, and they open and close upon laying down or being upright. That was a huge big deal at the time. Her hair is full and very fluffy! It seems intact on the head. She has a full and sort of curly, fluffy head of hair with a little red bow in it. Her little shoes and socks are original, as far as I know. Both are in good shape, with cute little buttons on them. Shirley's head moves at the neck, and her arms and legs also move at the torso joints. I think this is a great little treasure, and for a collector a great find. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer them.
