This doll is a treasure and one from my own collection. Just recently, when I decided to let her go and had her looked at by others in the know, that I realized how special she really was!

She is 13 inches tall and this doll was produced in 1934 right when Shirley Temple was just becoming famous. The doll only has Ideal Co marked on her neck because who knew then she would become not only America's sweetheart, but world renown. Ideal was betting that should the little starlett bomb, they could always use the body on another 13 inch doll. It was after Shirley became a phenomenom that Ideal secured the patent on the doll, and from then on, the Shirley Temple name appeared on both the head and body of the doll. (All of this this information can be secured on ShirleyTempledolls.

Com, if you are interested in fact-checking or just curious about the history of the ST doll) On this particular doll, the dress, slip, underwear, and wig, were what was with her when I bought her. I believe the wig may be mohair, but is possibly a replacement. It has been washed and reset by me. I did do some minor cosmetic work on her hands (see photo) and also her arms and legs, as she had some crackling.

This has been resolved, and if you use close-ups on the pictures, you will see the results are satisfactory. I have displayed this doll for several years.

There are a couple of boo-boos that are pictured: a small paint chip on her neck that does not show and a place on her foot where my baby beagle decided to nibble while I was washing her clothes. She is a real cutie and being a rare doll makes her doubly special.
