Vintage 1934 18 Ideal Shirley Temple Composition Prototype 1st Run Doll. Very Hard To Find - Good Condition.

Shirley is all composition, jointed at the neck, shoulders and hips, with working clear original brown sleep eyes with brush lashes - original facial paint including hand painted lower lashes, multi-stroke eyebrows, light cheek blush, open smiling mouth showing six upper teeth, felt tongue and a dimple in each cheek. Mohair wig has the bias tape binding put on the first dolls issued. Strung tightly - she can stand and pose. Good fingers and toes without repairs.

First run 1934 dolls were not marked on the head or back - most had a tag inside their head - either the glue dried out and the tag fell out of this doll - or she never had one. When Ideal made the first prototypes they had brown eyes and hazel eyes.

Shirley's Mother preferred the hazel eyes so most of the dolls were produced with hazel eyes. Original brown eyed Shirley dolls are hard to find. Doll has not been restored.

She has light to moderate crazing - a few cracks and a few tiny chips, lifting of the cracks photographed on an arm and leg. Her facial paint is original.

Eyes sleep and are clear. Brush lashes have some missing areas. Original bias tape wig is thin and on the short side but still somewhat curly. Good original fingers and toes. Please read the description and examine the photos - both are an important part of the description.
