Vintage Ideal Composition 27 Shirley Temple Doll with Bright Eyes School Dress

  

This is a 27 Composition Ideal Shirley Temple doll with outfit and button. Her dress is not tagged but it is the Bright Eyes brown plaid school girl dress with two white buttons on the back with white banding. Other than the collar being dingy this dress is in wonderful condition with no seam splits, holes or tears. Her shoes have a tie in the front and not a buckle and and appear to be original, they are as old as her.

Her eyes are pretty clear, shown above. On her right eye there is a little bit of eyelashes missing in the center, the left eye is full. She needs work because her hair is not in curls anymore and it might have been cut. It is her original wig. Her eyes open and close fine.

There is crazing on her face. Her stringing is good but can be tightened.

There is some cracking and missing paint behind her left wrist, shown above, and some small cracking on her shoulder, shown above. These are the major areas that I saw and there really wasn't any more cracking to find. The dress should be freshened and the collar is dingy from age but it does not have any holes or tears or rips that I can find. The shoes appear to be original but the shoes are very frayed and have ties in the front. They do not have a snap on the front. The socks have a newer look to them but I'm not sure. She has a slip underwear combo with snaps.

I believe this is original but wonder if the snaps were added on later. On the back of the slip by the hem there is a round dark mark about the size of a nickel. Except for the areas that I mentioned with the cracking, her body is in very good condition with just some crazing in spots.

Her original button is included but it is stained on the front, all along the bottom. It is marked on the sides with the Ideal markings and is tarnished underneath. I do not see any markings on the back under the tarnishing.
